Until recently, charities in Australia could raise and spend money without accounting to anyone. This year, the newly formed Australian Not for Profit and Charity Commission required them to submit an Annual Information Statement. The College of Universal Medicine surpassed itself by also forwarding its audited accounts. The information tells us the College raised almost half a million dollars, spent nothing, and their charitable activities were merely marketing events for UM’s business. Typical of anything UniMed, their attempt at transparency raises more questions than it answers, including why the charity is talking about buying a school building, when the students have already paid for one.

In October 2013, Universal Medicine’s UK charity, the Sound Foundation, in Frome, Somerset was issued an action plan by the UK Charity Commission over issues of public benefit and trustee conflicts of interest. In other words, the cult was busted running a tax exempt sham and given a deadline to start acting like a legitimate charity – by spending money in ways that benefit the public rather than the Benhayon family of bullshitters and an assortment of hangers on. Given that the charity’s income in the year ending September 2012 was £1.2M and the charitable spending that year amounted to a piddling £74K, we were hoping for big things before the deadline of May 1. But nuh. The maternity unit at Frome Community Hospital were given a few chairs…For the staff. And we know why the cult likes to butter up medical staff.

Esoteric Breast Massager and editor of cult leader Serge Benhayon’s self published tomes, Gabriel Conrad, had a profound and soul-full revelation at the 2012 UK Livingness retreat: multi millionaire Serge doesn’t have enough cash!! In the following fiery appeal to the faithful for evermore funds, Conrad gushes over Serge’s amazing GENEROSITY in allowing his students to pay for renovation of his property. She then plugs the spiritual benefits of donating to the guru’s tax exempt commercial scam with the fiction that students will ‘own our own building’ and that doing so is in defiance of the evil, conspiring, Astral Cult.
Whatever. One wonders if she’s emailed the faithful to tell them the Astral Cult, in the form of the UK Charity Commission, has the Sound Foundation under the microscope, and Serge’s UK church is at risk of losing the lot.

Forget Universal Medicine’s money for nothing products and services, for years a major source of the multi-million dollar cult’s income has been donations. In 2011, cult leader, Serge Benhayon was moved to tears by his success at conning the Australian Tax Office into granting the College of Universal Medicine tax exempt charity status. However, we think it unlikely Benhayon informed the ATO of his enmity to education, altruism and charity as evidenced throughout his writings and rantings. Moreover, notes supplied by intellectually challenged Esoteric students reveal the quality of education we can expect from his sham college.
